FAQs
-
What can I expect at a meeting? Our format is peer-peer support. The meetings are open groups led by fellow grievers just like you. We have all walked down the path of grief. Our meetings are not clinical and we do not offer advice. Leaders have experienced loss and are several years into their healing. Each volunteer is trained at Hope Lives Here and meet monthly to learn about more about grief and healing. Leaders simply facilitate the evening and offer their compassion and empathy.
-
Who leads the meetings? Our meetings are lead by trained and experienced Hope Lives Here volunteers who have wonderful perspective, empathy and compassion for our clients.
-
How long are the meetings? The meetings are usually 60-90 minutes, depending on the size of the group.
-
Do I have to be an active participant in a meeting? You do not have to be an active participant in the meetings. Just walk through the door and sit with others who are here to support and understand what you are going through. If and when you are ready, we are here to listen.
-
Can I bring a friend for support? We actually encourage clients to bring a friend for support - although not necessary, it may help to get you in the door.
-
Is there a fee? There is no fee. Hope Lives Here is a nonprofit organization relying on fundraisers and donations to keep our programs going.
-
Do I have to sign up ahead of time? You do not have to sign up ahead of time, but feel free to let us know you are coming on our Facebook page.
-

What kind of support is offered outside the meetings?Outside our meetings, we are here for you. We have Hope Angels to check in and see how you are doing. We have our closed Facebook group for daily support and inspiration. We do frequent emails, texts and calls if needed. You are not alone!
